Winter Home Projects

This is a time of year when most outdoor home projects are put on the list of future projects. Winter is almost here, and cold weather is on the daily forecast. Once the holidays are past and the new year begins, it is a good time of year to work on interior projects. Here are a few simple and relatively inexpensive things you can do to get a new look to your home or to that investment property you own:

WINDOW TREATMENTS- Consider getting new window treatments (e.g. blinds, curtains, draperies, etc.) to your home. They can help me a room a whole new look.

INTERIOR PAINTING- Why not on these cold winter days paint a room or two? It is nothing like a coat of paint that helps a room look fresh and new like a coat of This is a time of year in the part of the world where I live where most outdoor projects are suspended. The first day of winter is later this week. Outdoor projects like gardening and landscaping, exterior painting, and roofing are hard to do when frost is on the ground or the forecast calls from snow. Once the holidays paint. A different color of paint in a bedroom with new window treatments and and bedspreads can give a whole new look to that place in your house.

CLEAN UP AND CLEAN OUT- While many people talk about spring cleaning, the winter is a good time of year to clean out drawers, cabinets, or closets. You can donate those items to a charity that can use them or you can box them up to sell for a yard sale in the spring.

SET GOALS FOR NEXT YEAR- This is a good time of year to begin to formulate goals for the coming year. If you are a homeowner, you might want to begin to formulate plans for home make-over projects for the coming year. If you are an investor, begin to set goals for upkeep of your current real estate holdings in 2013 and what ways (if any) you want to expand your business in the coming year. Whether investor or home-owner, make sure that your goals are S-M-A-R-T (specific, measureable, acheiveable, realistic, and timely).

Good luck in these projects. -- Randy Wall, Lora Lee Properties
